It makes no sense, his and the rest of the oligarchs' money is in the Anglo-American banking system, which is telling which side they would most likely to support, and his connection to CIA via KGB, with Russia and USA being two wings of the same bird, also the Republicans are ideologically close to Putin and are on talking terms, with Medvedev representing the liberal left wing, connected to the powerful oligarchs, however Russia is not economically significant at this point, but Obama's deal with Iran, and other events, show that there is likely a split between the American banking cartels.

The Chicago mafia, by the looks of it, represented by the anti Netanyahu http://JStreet.org/, who are behind Obama and don't want to listen to economically poor Israel, is battling the NYC cartel represented by http://Forward.com/, hence the deal with Iran to piss them off and to make a point. Reportedly the economic collapse was scheduled around this time, yet it looks like it was either postponed or no one is at the helm at the moment to follow it through. 

One of the main reasons for the 1st and 2nd world wars was to weaken Russia and Germany, and with current migration of the refugees to Germany it looks like yet another invasion in order to weaken its economy.

Because if Russia and Germany, with perhaps China, which is the biggest economy in the world right now, got together, the Anglo-American empire would stand no chance, but as long as they are fighting or dealing with the refugees and such the West would only benefit from it, hence it was America who was the actual benefactor of the 1st WW, even though it only joined at the end in 1917 and did not fight, while the countries who fought since 1914 got screwed.

Recent VW fiasco is another example of an attack on German economy, which was in the works for quiet some time now, and most if not all VW executives knew well in advance about it. It sure seems that Merkel is the CIA agent, but the moment she tried to act out with the independent foreign policy she got hammered with the Syrian refugees crisis. How come the borders are wide open, because Germany is still an occupied territory, that's why US still has its bases there.
