Simon who is listening, hears the message and becomes Peter, the mind, the rock upon which are the St. Peter's Gates of perception, the pineal gland, where final decision is made about what information to present for Awareness of Christ, King, Consciousness or ignore.

In the similar function as performed by the liver, the organ responsible for discerning what matter to keep or discard, and thought of by the ancient Egyptians as the first physical manifestation of the ego, sense of self, in Greek/Roman pantheons identified with gods Zeus and Jupiter respectively.

That is why the last virtue is diligence, to have one's soul at St. Peter's Gates listening and hearing, then wisely deciding. For if no one is listening and hearing then either one is a sleep on the job, symbolized by the last deadly sin, sloth, or else not at all present, which is worse.
