The official propaganda makes a difference between melting rates of the sea ice and land ice. The proponents of climate change claim that the Antarctic land ice is melting at a rate of 100 to 300 Gt/year.

"Estimates of recent changes in Antarctic land ice (Figure 2) range from losing 100 Gt/year to over 300 Gt/year. Because 360 Gt/year represents an annual sea level rise of 1 mm/year, recent estimates indicate a contribution of between 0.27 mm/year and 0.83 mm/year coming from Antarctica. There is of course uncertainty in the estimations methods but multiple different types of measurement techniques (explained here) all show the same thing, Antarctica is losing land ice as a whole, and these losses are accelerating quickly."*

However that is incorrect and a hug wash. The "data" only covers a 3 year period! Obviously a long term trend is not going to be visible even if the data was true. It is localized and does not represent general trends. The margin of error is larger than the supposed fraction of a millimetre in global sea rise. It does not rise. Many coastal regions mark their water levels and the marks are dropping not rising. The weather stations made in the 60's are now berried under 200 meters of ice formed since and to get to them the tunnels were dugout from the surface! A Glacier Girl was a WWII plane abandoned in Greenland and when rediscovered it was berried under over 80 meters of ice!

That said, the believers of Global Warming rebuke with,

"Shukman’s report notes that scientists now definitely know the extent to which the polar ice melt has contributed to sea level rises - 11 millimeters (sic) (0.43 inches) over the last 20 years. And they can also say for certain that the melting is accelerating."**

So it claims that over the past 20 years the polar ice has contributed to the global sea levels rise by 11 millimetres, which is 1.81 mm/year alone! A far cry from 1 mm/year of 360 Gt/year representing an "official" annual sea level rise globally and "recent estimates indicate a contribution of between 0.27 mm/year and 0.83 mm/year coming from Antarctica.*" While the Antarctic Ice Sheet is where 61% of world's fresh water is stored. If we add these supposed numbers, the Arctic contribution of 1.81 mm/yr + 0.83 mm/yr we then double the overall supposed sea levels rise of 1 mm/yr globally to 2 mm/yr. Which is obviously ridiculous and holds no water. Besides the point, as I have mentioned, the margin of error is greater than the discrepancy of the data.

"Why are they all of a sudden so sure? Because the latest numbers pool the findings of 10 satellites from different countries. They also draw on 20 different polar research teams who collaboratively reported in Science."**

very convincing. 8/ oulala! 10 satellites and 20 research teams. Ain't that a bunch of Einsteins having a publicly funded party under the veil of science. i am not buying it.
