as human homo sapiens we all are equal in our drive to prioritize the basic needs first before satisfying desires of less urgent nature. common needs first and thus are the political and government systems of management are formed (the communism). then different wants come into play and thus are the economic and business systems of management are formed (the capitalism). obviously one has to spend time and energy to get time and energy, work, labour, is the use of energy, either for the reasons of needs or wants or both. as a Russian proverb goes, without doing the work, one can't get fish out of the pond. Thus work done now is also building up the potential energy that forms the probability of possible futures. there are needs and then, after the critical needs are dealt with, there are wants, desires. then there are individuals with their personal needs and wants, along with many groups who also have their needs and wants. then there are resources, which are either limited, renewable, or unlimited, personal or shared. then the individual makes free choice how to use the available resources, including time, skill, and energy, to address the needs and satisfy desires for themselves and the groups they are part of. nice and simple, in theory.
