Political Correctness Many people confuse the ethics and morals of the individual human being on this planet in the universe with ethics and morals of the group, such as a country. while the individual has to discriminate to a certain extent to look after self interests and has the freedom of choice and association of doing so, the democratic state, on the other hand, cannot discriminate against particular group of people or individuals without becoming dictatorial regime and should not for its main purpose is to fairly represent different individuals engaged in mutual interests. Therefor, to expect the individuals to be politically correct is futile while to expect the democratic state to be politically correct is a necessity for good governance. The democratically elected governments, for example, have to be politically correct, aka being moral which is being reasonable, because it is their role to represent the individual citizens in their common denominator interests, while the individual citizens are not obliged to be politically correct and can thus discriminate to their heart content to discern what is good for them or not. thus while one individual sees it as being moral, the other might not think so, however their government has no such freedom of discernment and has to make sure that all its members are fairly represented, hence it has to be reasonable and follow the moral guidelines that individual members have agreed on in principle and through the collective organization, such as the governments that is looking after the basic common needs we all share and have invested interest in, put it into practice. i am this i am, not us vs them. Sure, but that is not to say that collectives can have no moral values, the hell they don't. Corporate environment has its own moral code and that is to derive profit at the expense of everything else, then, don't start now blaming some individual for it. Both the groups and individuals have their playgrounds and rules of engagements which are not the same and quiet different in scope and purpose. That said, the morals -- the logic derived from an experience -- can apply either to the individual or the group. One does not exclude the other and both have room to learn and grow. Thus collectives, just like the individuals that make them, can have moral faults. Some collectives are organized around either bad or good morals and values, making easier for the individuals with the free choice of association to determine if they want to be part of that group or not, however other collectives and individuals are not so obvious off the get go and only show their true colours in time. Eventually, with the help from family and friends, travels and trials, religions and spirituality, education and nurturing, good luck and good fortune, space and time, and then some, many individuals develop proper political correctness, one would hope so, and move on on their merry way in the great universe, while civilizations rise and fall, same as the egos that are built up upon all the wrong reasons and assumptions will end in ruins. "Collectives do not have moral faults, since they don't make moral choices, and hence they cannot properly be ascribed moral responsibility. For there to be moral responsibility there must be blameworthiness involving a morally faulty decision, and this can only occur at the individual level. -Downie" (vie Geoffrey Bercarich) It is ridiculous to suggest that the concept of political correctness does not exist. It obviously does, and has been for some time. How it is understood is what would define this and all other concepts being useful in communication in real world.
