What? Vote? Why? Voters in the muddy waters... The political pageant of personality contest is about to start, the contestants look sharp and try to vow the crowds with their eloquent, articulate speeches and infectious smiles. :D Who will win the popularity crown is decided by using the archaic First-past-the-post mathematically inaccurate voting system, compared to a better method of the ranked ballots, thus the winner gets all the power & glory. However, the popularity contest is nothing more than people deciding on to whom should they give their vote of confidence to represent their interests and views in the decision making, where the actual issues and solutions being addressed. Therefore, by deciding to pass one's right to decide on the issues and solutions to someone else, would it be an individual or a group, does not actually address the issues at hand. All that it is resolving is personal preference of a voter who or what represents her/his vote. That free choice should be always there regardless of the voting system used in the decision making process; the ability for the voters to either vote on the issues themselves, or nominate their different representatives, either another person, a star like David Suzuki on the environmental issues, or the Green party, then the Liberals on the family issues, NDP for labour related, and the Conservatives with business and finance, for example, same like the corporate minority shareholders can have their representatives at the GM yielding significant weight in the decision making as a balk of voting power. That said, the point is that the voting should be done by nominating issues and then the most popular issues go for a second round where solutions are proposed and ranked from the most popular to the least. If person doesn't want to vote themselves on the federal/provincial level and only want to vote on municipal then they can trust their vote to another person or a group, and if that person or a group do not perform to the voter's expectation then the voter can revoke his vote of confidence from such party and either use it themselves or pass it to someone else. So, to summarize, vote to nominate the issues at hand and rank them in priorities, then nominate and rank the solutions to those issues. The political pageant shows of popularity contest does not solve any issues, all it does is shuffling around whose vote is represented by whom, which is a personal preference and has nothing to do with actual decision making or problem solving. Some have asked, what about the 100th issue, which is also important? Well, if the issue is important enough, it will be addressed; by you for yourself, by the family for the family, by the community for the community, by the nation for the nation, by the world for the world. 100th issue or not, at least you can rest assured that you are not simply wasting your time but actually dealing with the matter at hand, instead of participating in the busybody theatrics of puppet politics which solve nothing for the voter and for all other groups they purport to represent and care for. At some point the parents tell kids that it is enough of playing in the sandbox and now it is time to do something else very important, part of growing up. So is the current electoral system, it's a sandbox where voters play the pretend democracy. However sooner or later some people get frustrated that the game is not for real, thus they loose interest and look for something better to do with their time and energy, like making decisions for themselves on the issues that affect them the most. The bottom line is that, then the actual issues are being addressed, making the civil political engagement more meaningful than the current shallow hot air circus of political pageant sideshow. It's revolting. Why would any intelligent person give their right to make decisions that effect their livelihood and neighbourhood to some political creeps who couldn't care less much about anything, many even about themselves, considering the big picture. Revolt against the fake stupid choices, demand the voting reform based on the real freedom of choice and democracy in action!!! https://www.facebook.com/notes/alexander-braun/the-votering-hole/10154719546630442
