Michel Bauwens Optimal Human Movement Statement of Purpose March 5, 2011 Starting a new global socio-political organization. The Optimal Human Movement. If you know of anyone interested in becoming a charter member, please pass this note on to them. Ultimate goals will be holding people in power accountable,... spreading the importance of individual development and promoting reason and education. Essays on each of the following points, and concrete examples of how one can take action, will follow as time progresses. The "Ω" symbol comes from the realm of science, signifying the unit of measurement "ohm" identifying energy and it's resistance. "ohm" also initials for Optimal Human Movement. The world is screwed up. Someone's got to do something about it, and have to start somewhere. Ω Optimal Human Movement Statement of Purpose 1) We recognize that at the commencement of the 21st century, with exponential growth of communications and global economic systems, that all human beings are interdependently connected. 2) We recognize that in the history of human kind, guiding ideologies have always been secondary to two very distinct categories of human being: those who take, and those who give. 3) We recognize that in order for human kind to achieve optimal status, that on individual, local, national and global levels, we must emphasize the paradigm of giving over that of taking. 4) We recognize that there are enough natural resources on our planet for every human being to have their fundamental needs met. People starve only because most with governmental, religious and corporate power have world views based on taking. 5) We recognize that regardless of one’s proposed ideological belief system, ultimate responsibility for actions in this world depend on individuals. One cannot blame an ideology, a political viewpoint, or an economic system as if it were an inherently existent and independently functioning entity. 6) We recognize the universal principle that what one believes has absolutely no relevance to the rest of the world. Conversely, it is only one’s actions, which we, as an interdependent global populace, need be concerned with. 7) We recognize the right of every human being to pursue, achieve and maintain an optimal level of well being. 8) We recognize that the highest achievement a human being can accomplish is serving others. 9) We recognize free thought and the expression thereof. 10) We recognize that if a human’s sole purpose of existence is to simply eat, sleep, procreate and feed the senses, they are no different than an animal. They are simply pleasure seekers/pain avoiders that detract from the whole of human kind. 11) We recognize that the greatest strength of the human species is the ability to reason, and every human being has the moral obligation to develop optimal levels of reasoning for their own benefit and the benefit of others. 12) We recognize that we cannot expect our leaders to be fair and just, unless we, the individuals that make up a population, also adhere to an ethical and compassionate world view based on reasoning as well. 13) We recognize that morality is an objective paradigm that is not limited, owned or dictated by any one political ideology, religion or cultural view. Being human automatically implies the need for being moral. 14) We object to cultural moral relativism, and recognize that there is an objective state of well being that all human beings have an obligation to recognize, respect, strive for and maintain. 15) We recognize that every human being has the right and responsibility to strive for optimal levels of reason, wisdom, material wealth and emotional well being, which are not to be deterred by governmental, corporate or religious powers. 16) We recognize that leaders, from local to national levels, are representatives of, by and for the people. They are in their position to serve their people, not to be served. 17) We recognize that all forms of government are to remain neutral entities simply in place to serve the needs of the people, and must administer their duties completely separate from any form of political ideology, corporate venture or organized religion. 18) We recognize that any leader making profit while even one person in his or her constituency is deprived of basic necessities for achieving optimal well-being, is morally corrupt and must be held accountable. 19) We recognize the importance of material goods in one’s life, but in the constant view that material objects are insignificant when held up to one’s ability to strive for one’s own development as a human being, and actions that seek to benefit others. 20) We recognize the right of every human being to receive an education, especially absent of political, ideological or religious indoctrination, and solely based on objective reasoning. 21) We recognize the right and responsibility for any human being to read. 22) We recognize the right of any individual to pursue their beliefs on a personal level, but we do not recognize organized religions as authorities on any given issue. History has shown that organized religions always end up being the antithesis of whatever this planet’s most advanced and realized beings have taught. 23) We recognize that once a religious organization exceeds a certain level of financial excess, they must pay taxes like any other business. 24) We recognize that when asked, “What are you?” that labels based on country of origin, political party, or metaphysical belief, are all secondary to the statement, “I am human.”See more by: Optimal Human Movement
