It was a great show at the Power Plant tonight, Friday 08 November 2013: The Ecology of an Art Scene, where artists from Toronto and Paris talked about the Art, Scene, and Communities. It was interesting panel presentation with the engagement from the packed audience.*0 Day two tomorrow at the City Hall then i think there is something happening at the Gladstone afterwards. Good thing Art general Anne was there, major art critic and a long-time acquaintance from the art scene. i pointed her and other cool artists to a photographer there who was very appreciative. Anne said that on Tuesday at the Power Plant form 6-8 pm will be remembrance vigil of Jeannie Thib, RIP, whose piece, #197 Stack (2005) steel, wood, acrylic paint, 14"x14"x4", is featured now as part of More Than Two (Let It Make Itself) exhibit of 221 artworks and objects made by 101 individual artists, duos, and collectives, selected and arranged by Micah Lexier at the Power Plant.*1*2 I have noticed our, Idiosyntactix, friend John Marriott had at least two pieces in the show as well: #115 Learn Magic Easy (1998) custom-printed fabric label, cotton handkerchief, foil-lined box, stamped label (box not shown), 5"x5.5"x.75" (folded). The second piece is #116 Study for Out of Time (2011) chromira print from digitally illuminated, computer-generated digital model 12"x18". Which reminds me of the Outa Time band with Dale Cowsill, son of The Cowsills family band, great Canadian folk history.*3 As a history side note, in 1997, we, the Idiosyntactix*4, have paid four thousand dollars to put on a three day festival of cultural expression and intellectual property freedom called Plunderpalooza Festival. Even David Bowie showed up to what has become the greatest three-day event in our over two decades history, setting such a high live show benchmark which has daunted our event organizers ever since. Anyway, John made a wonderful Ivory (soap) Tower poster for the occasion.*5 I have also met a wonderful textile artist from Paris who then moved to Montreal and now living in Toronto and then i met another fascinating character who paints big, massive paintings and was wearing an over two centuries old maltese cross and kindly gave me a hint about a possible gallery exhibit for my abstract art. I also saw there artist Kika, always pleasure to see her, and Luis, who has a huge beard now i couldn't believe, i thought he was growing it for a movie!! It was wonderful time and i am glad i could make it there in time. It was a bit tricky to find the discussion part of the evening, however teamed up with a woman looking for the same event we have managed just in time for me to make a recording of the fascinating panel presentation of Parisian and Toronto artists. *0 http://iso.canadianart.ca/microsites/paristoronto/ *1 http://www.northbaynipissing.com/2013/11/jeannie-thib-leaves-memorable-mark-on-the-art-world/ *2 http://ca.blouinartinfo.com/news/story/977427/remembering-jeannie-thib-1955-2013 *3 http://www.stellarshowcase.durham.on.ca/billhistory.htm *4 https://www.facebook.com/groups/Idiosyntactix/?fref=ts *5 http://archive.groovy.net/plunderpalooza/
